On August 1, 2024, the presentation of the exhibition project "Mythogenesis 2024" took place at the "Gallery XXI" Cultural Center.
The exhibition featured photo and video documentation of the works created during the open-air part of this year's festival, as well as the release of a printed catalog. The open-air segment of the "MYTHOGENESIS" International Environmental Art Festival itself was held from May 30 to June 2, 2024.
This year, 10 artists from various cities in Ukraine and the USA participated in the project. Two artists worked on the project online, and 10 projects were created by artists from Vinnytsia.
As a reminder, from 2006 to 2024, "MYTHOGENESIS" existed in a winter format, where the primary materials for the projects were snow, ice, and dry plant remnants. This year, the participants faced the challenge of transitioning into a new format marking the end of spring and the beginning of summer.
The auxiliary thematic title and format definition for the project was "PRO-blooming" (PRO-kvitinnia). The artists utilized both classical forms and methods of creating environmental art, as well as performative practices and various creative syntheses, including painting, installation, and collage.
The project provided artists working in the fields of land art and environmental art in Ukraine with an opportunity to continue their creative practice during times of crisis, allowing them to create and convey their personal messages through artistic means.
The festival was held within the framework of the #EU4Culture project, funded by the European Union and implemented by the Goethe-Institut Ukraine, as part of the Culture Development Strategy of the Vinnytsia Municipal Territorial Community until 2025.
The event was organized by the NGO "Laboratory of Contemporary Art" (Laboratoriia Aktualnoi Tvorchosti) together with the Department of Culture of the Vinnytsia City Council, with the support of "Gallery XXI".
