Another event was held as part of the #2024YearOfKotsiubynskyi project. On July 24, the Vinnytsia Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi Literary and Memorial Museum presented an exhibition of Olena Kulchytska's illustrations for Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi's novella "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors".
Olena Kulchytska is a prominent Ukrainian artist and the first woman to receive a formal art education in the Halychyna (Galicia) region. She created over 4,000 artworks that became part of the golden fund of Ukrainian book illustration.
In 1929, commissioned by the State Publishing House of Ukraine, Olena Lvivna created illustrations for the novella "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors". Later that same year, the writer's novella of the same name was published featuring the artist's illustrations. Today, the museum is presenting these illustrations by the artist, which have been added to its permanent collection.
The exhibition features 31 graphic works by the artist.
The exposition is open for visitors from July 24 to August 19, 2024.
The exhibition is organized as part of the implementation of the Culture Development Strategy of the Vinnytsia Municipal Territorial Community, with the support of the #EU4Culture project, which is funded by the European Union and implemented by the Goethe-Institut Ukraine.
